Mission:
SSTRIDE - Science Students Together Reaching Instructional Diversity and Excellence -is an outreach program sponsored by the Florida State University College of Medicine in conjunction with the Okaloosa School District CHOICE program.

Students receive information regarding careers in the Health sciences, an introduction to medical ethics, and do an in-depth study of several human body systems . A stringent curriculum is augmented with frequent labs, relevant field trips, academic competition at FSU, tutoring and participating in community service, such as Brain Trauma Presentations at Crestview elementary schools.

Students selected to continue on to the high school program will not only continue the enhanced labs, field trips, and other community service projects but receive additional test prep, college application assistance, and the opportunity to participate in summer camps.

Should a student decide to go to FSU, he/she is able to continue in SSTRIDE, receiving tutoring, mentoring, and advising as an undergraduate with the option to continue through Med School.

Members:
Applications are given out to students that qualify for and are interested in the program during Spring registration.

Meetings:
SSTRIDE is a class period that counts for one elective credit.
